The Hidden Costs of AI

AI & Sustainability with André Curtis-Trudel and David Reeves

André Curtis-Trudel and David Reeves will examine the often-hidden material and human costs of AI systems — including energy use, water consumption, infrastructure demands, and invisible labor.

Their session asks: as an AI user, how are you balancing the business need for efficiency against its impact on the environment and labor? The presentation analyzes social, environmental, and civic responsibility in AI adoption.

Their session engages participants in real-world scenarios that highlight how leaders can strengthen human judgment alongside automation.

Key questions include: What skills do you and your team need in an AI-enabled workplace? How should leaders decide when not to use AI?
