My research focuses on current applications and implications of AI for writing (instruction). For the past three years, I have worked to develop and test the Peer and AI Review + Reflection (PAIRR) curricular model in writing courses. PAIRR serves to foster students' critical AI literacy development through discussion of key readings about AI and engagement with AI feedback. I am also collaborating with colleagues in Computer Science on a human-computer interaction study to explore how engaging in dialogue with AI about writing may impact the diversity of language that students use in their compositions and students' feedback literacy. I'm intrigued by research indicating that AI is engendering a homogenization of language practices, and I'm curious to examine how students choose to position themselves and their writerly voices vis-à-vis AI's standardization-driven text generation.
